From perfumer Anne Flipo comes Love Story by Chloe, which was released in 2014. The inspiration is the locks of love padlocks which are placed on bridges in Paris by lovers to declare their romance publicly.

Clémence Poésy, famous French actress, who has an incredible air of self-assured beauty and femininity was an ideal choice for the face of Love Story. She is pictured with Paris, the city of lights, in the background.

LOVE STORY BY CHLOE PERFUME REVIEW

The bottle design was created to link in with the locks of love inspiration, and has a curved metal top and square base.

LOVE STORY BY CHLOE PERFUME REVIEW 1

Opening notes: Bergamot, grapefruit, lemon, neroli and pear.

Middle notes: Rose, blackcurrant, stephanotis jasmine, peach and orange blossom.

Base notes: Musk, patchouli, cedar and cashmere wood.

Fresh citrus fruits abound here, but their joy is curtailed by the overly sweet pear. Thankfully the heart notes bring a balance and the tart blackcurrant is a good yang to the pear’s yin. The drydown is sophisticated and feminine, exactly as this should be, and brings classic a French quality to this Love story.

Occasions: Daytime romantic liaisons.

Seasons: Spring and summer.

Rating: Bronze medal.

Price: Very expensive.
